Texas BBQ entree?

Post by DangerousDave » Thu Dec 22, 2005 10:35 pm

:?: I just got a catalog from CTD, offering several 6-packs of current entrees. I've been to 4 rodeo's and 2 State Fairs, and that was the stupidest thing I ever heard. :?: :?: :?:

What's CTD? And they're offering a "Texas BBQ" entree?

My guess is that he's talking about "Cheaper Than Dirt".

Thanks, Twobravo! I actually have a copy of their latest catalog and hadn't gotten around to looking at it yet. It took a while (figures...the ad was on the last page), but I finally found it:

Not such a bad price, I suppose...but I didn't check shipping.

Seems to be a type-O. Appears to be the Sloppy Joe entree. They still use the Texas word, for some reason. Maybe because it was actually packed by Wornick. I have some Smithfield, Virginia "Authentic North Carolina style" shredded pork BBQ, for sale.

Anybody with half a brain knows what Carolina BBQ is. It does'nt have all that tomato coloring crap. Just Vinegar based sauce. Best by itself on a paper plate with some kind of fryed potato wedges and Cole Slaw on the side. Yea, you can still put the BBQ on bread, if you want a samich.

Hi DangerousDave. Not to nitpick, but it sounds like you're describing Eastern Carolina-style BBQ. That's the BBQ with the vinegar-based sauce. The Western Carolina-style sauce is your more traditional tomato-based sauce.

Being a Western Carolina guy myself, I don't want to confused with all those Eastern Carolina BBQ types. Sure, I like the occasional plate of Eastern Carolina BBQ, but my taste buds are pretty set on the shredded pork BBQ with tomato or mustard-based sauce of my choosing.

Mmmmm....now I'm hungry for BBQ. And for those of you from the North, that does *NOT* mean hamburgers and hot dogs cooked on the grill. :-)

Roger that. KMan. Maybe I'll understand that Carolina BBQ thing one day. All I know, It's all good. I love pork BBQ, as long as it was properly cooked. I prefer the vinegar based sauce with some kind of red peppers on white shredded pork. Thats just me, though. :D
