Haven't bought MREs in a LONG time and was able to score 2 cases last week.

Anyway - while checking the exp dates noticed a red Fresh-Check label which I had never seen before.

I checked this site for info on the labels but wasn't able to find anything - so I snooped around and found that the labels are made by a company called Life Lines Technology.

The labels are called TempTime TTI - time temperature indicators. When the center of the bull's eye turns black it's time to toss your MRE's.

see their webpage for more details... navigate to TECHNOLOGY AND QUALITY/HOW TO READ

(site is all flash - no direct linky)

anyway - i've been lurking the boards for a long time. it's great site.

just never had anything to add.

Hi Dekard - welcome to the foums! Well...I guess you've been reading for a while so maybe "thanks for delurking!" is better.

There is a small amount of info on the website about the TTIs - but it's buried here:

http://www.mreinfo.com/mre-longevity.html

But thanks for the extra info! This would be good to add to that page.

TTI - didn't know to search under that...

thanks!...

btw - ate #4 ham omelette (loaf) from a '93 case y'day and it was all good. the hot sauce was still tangy! it even had a diet soda pkg which i had never seen before.

it even came with an FRH which i don't seem to remember from the '93 cases.

i guess keeping the cases inside (70-ish) helps with the longevity.
