Tailored Operational Training Meal by Ameriqual?

Post by Jpak » Tue Jun 02, 2009 11:13 pm

I just saw these photos from an ebay auction for a case of Tailored Operational Training Meal (TOTM) MREs? Has anyone ever heard of or ever seen these MREs before? I initially thought it was just a knock-off brand, but when I looked at the photos more closely I noticed that the case is labeled "By Ameriqual Packaging," which is one of the major manufacturer's of military MREs and the civilian APacks. Any ideas?

The seller doesn't list any date codes, but links to MREInfo's page claiming these are from the 2008 military MRE menu...which is kinda funny since the date stamp on his photos are from 2007...he must've predicted the 2008 menus. Plus, he's selling them at a hefty Buy-it-now price of $85/case not including shipping. I wouldn't buy them, but was very curious about them since I've never seen these MREs before.

Totm's are used during training, IE classroom stuff.
Less calories, sort of MRE light :D
Basically a military sack lunch, so the REMF's can pretend they're Warriors!

TOTMs are definitely real military rations. Here's a link to the official DSCP page on them:

http://www.dscp.dla.mil/subs/rations/pr ... otmabt.asp

There's also a link to the menus there.

I've seen that guy selling those TOTMs on eBay. He's just another eBay asshat who thinks he should get $85 for a case that's normally worth about $40 on eBay. The TOTMs contain the exact same food components as regular MREs but the menus are designed to delivered a smaller calorie count.

Maybe Kman should replace the link with a dogfiod pic ?

Or even better, a link to buy the totm at a cheaper price.

Sounds like a plan dekard. I'm all for capitalism and making a profit, but i hate to see ebay clowns like that guy taking advantage and charging ridiculous rates....sadly, someone will probably buy some of them at that price and perpetuate the ugly cycle of $85 cases of MREs. Someone stop the madness!

I normally purchase a case of T.O.T.M.'s about every month where I live at for about 54.27 a case. I prefer the standard non civillian MRE's over the T.O.T.M.'s brand anyday but prices for T.O.T.M.'s are cheaper than the MRE's by a long shot. The standard MRE case prices are 87.62 and are about 10 -15 bucks cheaper than the civillian store prices where I live at and the T.O.T.M.'s are 33 bucks cheaper. The next time I go shopping I'll take a picture of the T.O.T.M.'s prices if there are any left. 2 pallets were put out right after the Easter Day Quake and the regular MRE's are sold out within the first 2 months. All that are left are the T.O.T.M.'s
