sealed MREs w/ FRH in checked luggage

Post by Jpak » Thu May 14, 2009 9:04 pm

Anyone ever run into problems at the airport flying with sealed MREs with the FRH heater inside checked baggage (not carry-on)??? I thought I remembered seeing some kind of warning about FRHs on planes...

On the bags of military MREs, it says "Flameless Ration Heaters are prohibited on commerical airlines unless sealed in original MRE bag". If you put the (sealed) MREs in your checked luggage, you *should* be ok.

Thanks kman...I dug through my old cases and just noticed that was written on the outside of the military pouch.

I hate to go down in a plane some where in the Pacific and be the only one with food in the life raft - FRH or no FRH.
