1995 MREs anyone?

I just saw an auction on ebay today for some who had around 60 cases of MREs from 1995. They were asking a minimum of $27/case plus $20 shipping. That sounded pretty crazy to me seeing as they're 10 years old (but probably still good). So I emailed them offering $15/case if I could pick them up in person - they live close enough to drive.
It looks like they might be interested and we just have to negotiate a price - it'll probably end up somewhere between $15-20/case. Would anyone else be interested in some? You can find the menus here:

If anyone else would be interested in some of these, I'd be willing to pick them up and send them to you at cost + actual shipping. If the seller and myself can work something out, I'll probably pick up a few cases...if not more.

I may have to go for a case or two myself, always been curious about the older meals... Any idea what the storage conditions were like? Keep us posted on how the negotiations go!

I don't really know about the storage conditions but I'll ask (and also ask for some pics). But from our other conversations, it sounds like they're still good - at least, they said they tried one and it was still good. I tend to believe it - mainly because that 1993 MRE from kyle that I ate recently was stored in some pretty bad conditions and it was still good.
Looks like I'm going to try to get these next week.

Who know you may want to use the shovel to dig your grave if you get a 1992 Chicekn A la King in this auction.

This is my first post here. I’ve been lurking for several weeks. I feel like I should start out with something like in a twelve-step program: “Hello, my name is Ron, and I like to eat MREs”
It was interesting and fun to find and read this forum. "Other people that like MREs - - WOW!
Anyway, I’ve been watching the eBay auctions, and I saw this one also. My girlfriend is a Power Seller on eBay, so I know quite a bit about selling there. That guy’s auction annoyed me, and I will let you read my note to him:
I have bought older MREs before. I might bid on your auction.
However, you appear to be a new eBay'er, and there are some things you need to know:
Those MRE boxes weigh ~16 pds. You can ship 16lbs to my town, St. Louis, for less than $12.00 UPS ground. You can ship all the way to Costa Mesa CA. for less than $18.00 ground!
Since you are a new eBayer, You should know that eBay has a rule about excessive shipping charges, they are considered >fee advoidance<
Please reconsider 'true cost' shipping.
Your MRE'S are mostly for 1995. What does this mean to the bidder? Will the bidder get 1995 or older or what? How does the bidder KNOW what date box he'll get??
Finally, and MOST UNBELIEVEABLE, YOU WANT A $27.00 RESERVE??!!! I recently bought some 1999 MREs from Sevierville, TN for $25.00 per case.
I really think you need to reconsider your auction. At least the shipping charges, so you aren't reported for fee advoidance. . . . .

Your email to that ebayer sounded kind of like mine - maybe a little harsher, but still pretty similar. I don't usually respond to auctions like that because I figure they won't sell and that'll be lesson enough. But this just seemed so rediculous that I had to say something.
