Hi mw509 - welcome to the forums! And you seemed to have stumbled upon our all-time favorite (not!) MRE - the dreaded CCC. It may have started out as "chicken" but once they "country captainized" it, it turned into an mre-monstronsity.
Ok ok...I have to confess...I actually ate a "fresh" (late 2004) CCC last month. Once it was all heated up, doused with tobasco, and then had the noodles mixed in, it wasn't so bad - I almost couldn't taste the nasty little slivers of almonds. I just like knocking on this particular MRE.

So this CCC seems to be a Meal Rarely Eaten...
Well, to be honest... and except for the acids these dead birds produce... I like CCC's!
To me they are Chickens Carefully Cooked.
If you are planning to throw them away than please don't. You can always send CCC's to me. I will pay for the postage.
(BTW: I described my findings earlier on somewhere in this forum.)

I’m getting ready to open a case and try that CCC and see what all this hullabaloo is all about.

I would say there are better MRE's out there than this one buy you can eat it. However I think the name is quite misleading. Country Captain Chicken sounds like something that would have a sweet taste to it.

Country Captain Chicken
Okay, I know what a chicken is.
I know about country cookin' (always replace the 'g' with an apostrophe when spellin' it!)
But what makes this thing
A CAPTAIN?
I mean, do you salute it? And what would a Chicken Colonel say to Chicken Captain?
Somebody somewhere must have a graphic or a cartoon showing us what the original bird must've looked like.
Perhaps if we all picture Foghorn Leghorn (well, he's a country
rooster) in a uniform!

I gotta agree with Bob.
Country Chicken sounds like it should be fried chicken or something. Country chicken doesn't have curry.
And WTH is Country Captain anyhow.
Do they mean a Naval captain (O-6) or a lower ranked army/af/marine captain (0-3)?????
