Over on
this thread OT mentioned seeing a new inner plastic bag in one of this 2005 MREs. He just sent me some pics so here they are:
Interesting stuff. I wonder if this is a new production method? You can even see the datecode on the bag in the third picture - 5112.

Here is another picture of the new inner plastic bag.
I don't see the entree name on the tan bag, just the menu number.

Hi King Leonidas. Did you take that picture yourself? The reason I ask is because that looks like an older MRE in the middle - see how it doesn't have the "Commercial resale is prohibited" and "FRHs are prohibited on commercial airlines" text on the bottom. Plus, it looks like the MRE on the right side is actually a Sopakco Sure-Pak MRE - you can make out the writing on the bag.
Just wondering...

I found it on the internet. I thought something was funny about that picture. If it is not the new inner plastic bag i will remove it.

You can leave the pic up there so others can see the difference, but I'm pretty sure this isn't the new inner bag lining.

You know, i think what is really needed in the current issue MRE is another plastic bag inside the plastic container...or maybe just a chunk of plastic at the bottom of the bag. Just something that makes for more waste when you're done with the thing -- or more smoke when incinerated.
