Yeah, I traded for one of the old style # 2 menus, back in the early 70's... The article was true, the beans were like stones no matter what I did. :lol:

YEP, right about the beans in the Chili. Our Pathfinder unit was given these when we were on long patrols. They were excellent but required alot of water which was scarce for us. We would trade the "GRUNTS" for their pound cake and pweaches or other fine items for the ones we did not like, like the Chili and the beef hash. The others were darn better than the C-rations and much lighter to hump.

If we got low on ammo we would take the beans out of the Chili and then throw them at Charlie....LOL
