I searched forum and did not find any mention of HeaterMeals.

"HeaterMeals use the same type of flameless ration heater used by the US Army."

I've seen HeaterMeals all over Ebay before. I take issue with their claim of "same type of frh used by the Army" because that's not really true. I mean, sure, it's a ration heater, but it's not in a bag and you don't insert the entree in it - you set the entree on top of it.

I used to think these things were just cheap knock-offs of MRE-like food but one or two forum members (OT? Treesuit?) have said they've seen these things being distributed to hurricane victims and/or US soldiers - so I guess they get around.

Yeah, I seem to recall their website said they won't be taking any orders until after Nov 15 because of the demand from the hurricanes

And they sure aren't cheap, either! I looked at buying some of the breakfast ones for variety of my stock, but I could not justify paying 8 bucks a meal or something like that for pancakes.

HeaterMeals sent me 2 regular entrees and one of the deluxe meals with the cookies, drink can of juice, pudding, etc in it. I used them for evaluation purposes. We were thinking of using them at our fire department for food for when we're out on large wildland fires for extended periods of time, or when we're at a structure fire and the family looses everything. One of the things that people in disasters have told us is that they are hungry and we have to tell them that we don't carry food on the fire trucks.

However, HeaterMeals were rejected due to cost. I'd rather buy cases of USGI MRE's off of eBay. It would be cheaper, and there is more to the MRE's.
