chicken, vegetables and noodles in sauce

Post by bigboy » Tue Dec 09, 2008 8:59 pm

Can any of you guys, and ladies, tell me if the chicken, vegetables and noodles in sauce entree is any good?. Is the sauce a tomato sauce or what. I have probably had it before but I can't remember. Thankyou

Is that the Chicken w/ Noodles entree like from the 2004 MREs? IIRC, the sauce isn't tomato-based. If this is the entree I'm thinking of, I thought it was an ok entree - not particularly great, but also not hideous like the CCC. It was just chicken, some vegetables, and some noodles - kind of plain but a lot better than some of the MREs you could get (CCC, omelet, etc.).

Theres a CCC MRE for sale in UK ebay, I was thinking of buying it just to see what all the fuss with this ration is about and just to see how bad it is :D

What is it anyway? I've never heard of Captains Country Chicken.

Check out the reply by CaptBob in the middle of this page:

That explains a little more about Country Captain Chicken.

Ingredients:
Water, Chicken, Carrots, Egg Noodles (Durum Flour, Eggs, Egg Whites, Glyceryl Monostearate, Niacin, Ferrous Sulfate, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, and Folic Acid), Peas, Chicken Fat, Red Bell Peppers, Food Starch-Modified, Dried Chicken Stock, Salt, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, and Spice.

You see, no tomato :D you are right.

It´s not "hot" nor real "spicy" - so it´s the right thing for me

Mrs. Housil had a CCC last week and for the very first time, I´d liked the smell - made me drooling
It had a very delicous curry smell/flavour.
We forgot it in the boiling water and it was heated up very (to?) hot. Maybe therefore?!

I really don't mind the CCC flavor. It's just the little almod slices in it that drives me crazy. They way they crunch when you bite into them makes me think I'm eating fish bones. Yuck!

A late reply, but hopefully still adds some value.

I agree on Kman's opinion. It's is the 04 entree. It is an OK MRE.
I honestly have to say that I only ate one. And it wasn't that delicious since it had spent too much time in the Iraqi sun. I never had one since, despite that I have some more at home but my guess is they'll face the same destiny. So unfortunately it's not a 100% positive experience but worth trying.

give it a go and let us know :D

Regards, Nawt.
