Ok people,you've hinted around about your Y2K supplies so lets be honest with each other,what do you have left?Myself----canned goods by the case---Dry beans&corn by the barrels---gallons of bleach---new water well---NIB 5K generator---wind up radios,flashlights---bricks of Bic lighters---powdered milk,cases---lifetime supply of ammo--Oh yea'
I have'nt had to buy toilet tissue in six years.

I bought nothing pre Y2K and I never believed in it anyway...it was all a hyped up piece of CRAP!

I made sure i had some extra cash in case there were problems with ATMs.. thats about it.. as a software engineer one of the biggest wastes of time we had from like 1998 to 2000 was our "Y2K" certification and preparedness contingecny crap.. and we all knew it but the pointy headed managers didn't want to hear it

Well, I did not want to take it seriously, but we had a bunch of blackouts in CA in the summer before Y2K, and it set me on edge. Plus I have a family, and the thought of them looking up at me in the Y2K apocalypse and asking "why weren't you ready" sent me into a mild case of Y2K preparation. (I sound a little defensive, don't I
)
So, I still have: a bunch of lightsticks, a generator, 5 gallons of probably-spoiled gasoline, a couple of cases of propane canisters, aging civilian MREs (1995 pack date), a sealed tub of water that needs to be drained and re-bleached, too much ammo, and russian squeeze flashlights.
We ate the canned goods and spent the $$ we had ready...

6500 Generac and 30+ gallons of gasoline. I did'nt believe anything would happen either. However, that Generac came in handy 3 years later when Isabel rolled thru here.(No I did'nt have the same 30 gallons of gasoline then, just 40 gallons of fresh, cause I could go online and see Isabel coming). Art Bell had everyone freaking out, cause every electronic item from a TV and VCR to a 747 at 35,000 ft. would fail at 2000/0000/1second, because of embedded chips. Nothing happened. We all just kept drinking beer. HaHa

Yeah, I have a generator now - honda GX powered Northstar 13Kwatt bugger
Of course, i have well and septic so I need the power to run those pumps (my drainfield is upfield fromthe tank)
Wish I had had it during Isabelle.. we lost 3 freezers of food, not to mention having no water cept what we stored in buckets and the bathtub... my wife made me feel like a survivalist freak for getting 5 bags of ice and filling the water up... she came around rather quick after 5 days of no power, no water, etc etc.
