Hey Guys,

Went shopping today with a friend who showed me a militaria store thats been in Cardiff for 20 years.... yet I had no idea it was there. Its a little out of the way but thats good as uts still very cheap.
Its an Aladins cave of militaria, he has loads of WW2 british webbing, shells, deactivated guns, badges, I could have spent hours in there.

I did find somthing interesting,
3 old mre entrees, some do have stamps on the boxes, prehaps it might date them? They were £4 for the 3. (sould have been £2 each but as I'd just bought stuff he knocked en down), The stains on the boxes are water as there no nasty smell from any of them. they dont feel swolen.

Barbecue Sauce with Ground Beef- 4216 AIJ
Beef Stew- 5275941
Chicken Ala King - No stamp

Also picked up an East German Bayonet for £20,
and a strichtarn mag pouch with 4 AK mags and 8 Rounds of East German 7.62 for £20. To make the mags look loaded.

He had a wall of deactivated guns, I spend the best part of a hour playing with them, he didnt mind as I'd just spent just over £40.

Question stands do I do a taste test? :D

Sounds like a fun time! As for those MRE entrees, I'm guessing those date codes go all the way back to 1984 and 1985. I'd be interested in reading what you thought of them if you open them (I would do it!) but I don't know about eating them completely.

You guys are twisting my arm :D

I dont know why just the entrees only, I didnt mind. Its in a building full of antique shops, its tucked away at the back, I was greated by a Russian Solider manaquin in full Afghanistan kit, MG-42's, DP-28's and a Russian Maxim. I knew it was going to be a good day. I must have played with at least 15 different weapns, SVT 40's Mosin Nagants, Mauser, Enfield, Swiss K11's, Martini Henrys, AK-47's. I was like a kid in a candy store.

He did have a US ration pack with cigarettes in, MCI? but sold it last week....DAMN. One of the Tins was swelling but the rest was fine. Would have tried the Cigarettes I think, but thats its.

Tomorrow I will be trying the Beef Stew, (as I don't know what Chicken-ala-King is and the BBQ sauce with Beef just doesn't seem to get my mouth watering)

I only have 1 MRE heater left so will get some more from ebay, I'll try the rest another day,

pic will follow.

Chicken 'ala King...heh heh...also know as "Chicken 'ala Death" because of the cases of food poisoning that came from a bad batch of that entree.

thats brings me to the question: is there a liste which items from which PD year should not be eaten?
