hi there friends!!!! I'm new to this site, but not new to MREs. A couple of years ago, i came across a site on the net, and a guy named Tim Mcallistar was talking about making reproduction MCIs. now, I'm too young to have ever had them, but would greatly like to find an edible case of the same rations daddy ate in the 'Nam. Does anyone out there have any idea as to how i can find any anywhere? i know there are companies that make them for film companies on a limited basis....cost isn't really an issue here.

I don't have any links for you but I would chime in and say it'd be cool to find some of these around that were actually affordable.

the interesting part is IF you could find a chinese guy who is willing to do all these, the problem is who's gonna buy them?
other than the reenacters and us crazy ration-eaters, is the general public going to take to eating MCIs?
not much call for a whole factory to pump them out to a niche market.

As it was not this serious (I still have some MCI´s) - just kidding, I would never buy
any Chinese made stuff - food not at all. They can´t even make some candies without poisoning thousands...
The "scary" thing was, that some "Asian guy(´s)" are paying hundreds Dollars/Euros for some single rations...

MCI's are near and dear to my heart. It is what got me into this MRE thingymabob in the first place.
To make a long story short, back in 1978 or so my dad was in the Army Reserves here in FL and he brought home a TRUNK FULL of MCI's. He opened up the trunk, my eyes lit up and my addiction to military food began. I was only 10 at the time.
Now, fast forward to about 4yrs ago and I introduced my 6yr old daughter to MREs and passed the family tradition on to her. Perhaps one day she will show her 6yr old child the future in MRE's whatever they may be...
Giving your child a pack of Bubble Yum - $.99
Buying your child a Happy Meal - $3.49
Sharing an MRE with your child - PRICELESS!

I was trading my parents "whole" wine basement into MCI´s at REFORGER 1986 in age of 14. This causes me a lot of "trouble" when my parents discovered the empty racks...
I´m glad our daughter´s (19 & 15) don´t like tens of years old canned military food (if it is not chocolate covered), otherwise I had to put a fence and barbed wire around my basement.
I also told them our house was built on an celtic boneyard and sometimes you can hear "suspicious" noises from under the basement...
Don´t "bait" them to much
