Today my first case of Menu C MREs arrived and I couldn't help but to open a couple up.

WOW, they pack a lot of snacks into each meal. If I don't want to plump up I'm going to have to spread the snacks out for a couple of days. The variety of both food items and menu choices beats out the MRE-STAR menus I've been working my way through. The two menus I opened do not have any beverage mix, but I suppose that's no big deal.

OK, one negative comment, the case is stamped date packed 8016, but most of the items in the pack have 2006 date codes. I don't know if this is normal, but I didn't expect it.

Not what I'd expect either....if the case says 08 production I'd want "fresh" eats, not stuff that's been 2 years on the shelf and put in the box in 08.

Can anyone say if Menu Cs or MREs in general are normally made up with such a wide range of date codes? It's kind of a bummer to think that some of the items will probably expire before others, and there is no way of knowing that the actual dates are until you open the individual bags.

Where are these cases packed? I read something about them somewhere, they were packed for the Blackwater guys or something. Another North Carolina thing, Kman.
