Yep. One of the lesser-known and unpleasant aspects of the Aussie deployment to East Timor was the number of dangerous/diseased dogs that had to be killed.

my brother In law actually "smuggled" (I use that very lightly) a puppy in from Iraq.(Cutest thing I ever saw). As a joke I had the local seamstress make a turban for it and now it walks around with it on his head lol.
