I was just passing the picture of the child along. I hoped not to confuse anyone that's why I included the source as PhotoBucket.

Surely, these MRE's have many uses not the least of which can be benevolence. I have considered the needs of the church as a practical way to distribute MRE's.

Many churches including the catholic ones offer food pantries for the needy. It could conceivably be a good place to store extra unneeded MRE's. Let your conscience inform you which are the good ones based on your experience.

I believe the Coyote Camp meals would make a good source for a food pantry.

Don't get me wrong. These are simply my opinions. All in all I think its something to think about.

Yes, I am partial to that one as well...

Coyote Camp packages the components into shelf stable meal packages for a different demographic. There are a number of companies that have been packaging commercially available components into shelf stable meals for years as emergency meals for seniors as part of the Meals on Wheels program.

Thanks, my intent was not to start a new thread but rather to point out that the assembly of commercially available components was not unique to Coyote Camp. Other organizations assemble similar shelf stable items for various purposes as well. While the Meals on Wheels program is just one that came off the top of my head, another that may be of more interest to members here are assembled shelf stable meals from commercially available components that are made for military purposes to augment or in place of conventional operational rations like MREs. Coincidentally, these are also assembled by some of the same companies that assemble the shelf stable meals for the Meals on Wheels programs.

It would also appear that Natick is on top of this as well. While not as well known as MREs, they too have an operational ration that is assembled from commercially available components. It's called the Go-To-War(GTW) ration. It is only assembled and use in times of emergency from a database of available contractors, and used to augment conventional operational rations, until the more conventional ration supply can be built up (i.e. MREs)
