I've tasted those bars. They taste pretty much like the other bars - cereal bar, granola bar, shortbread bar, etc. The bar itself is very compressed but not too difficult to bite into. The bar is easy to chew and doesn't crumble much. If you've ever had any of those "chewy granola bars", well, this isn't really like those. Those commercial bars are composed of bigger pieces of granola or whatever whereas the survival bars are made up of much smaller, finer parts.

I know it's a poor comparison, but it's as if a regular store-bought granola bar was made up of compressed gravel (the texture, not the taste!) and the survival bars are made up of compressed sand (again, just the texture).

Sorry for the poor descriptions...it's geting late and my brain is shutting down. :-)

barzongak,

Yes, I have tried the chocolate chip bar especially the ones in the survival food packets...they are great! :D It's very hard to describe; it's like taking a chcolate chip granola bar mixing it with some cornflakes and pressing it into a small block. The chcolate taste very good and the other filling is good but grainy or crumbly depedning on how old it is. If you getone try it... :o
