Heres a pic. of Mark 4 kit. The Brits invented it. I added a couple items, Like the Solingen K-55 Mercator knife. This, of course, is a "minimal kit". Us crazy survivalists have to keep on top of this this stuff, you know. PS, Never fly on any aircraft, within CONUS.

That one tin kind of looks like one of those "Altoid" can kits people put together. Personally, I like the idea of the Nalgene-bottle survival kits because you can fit more stuff in the AND have a useful drinking container. Then again, the Altoid kits really are small.

Are those clear trashbags in the background? If so, it looks pretty good. I didn't see too much fire starting stuff, add a bic. Maybe a nalgene like kman said, but plastic bags will work as well of course.

All I have is this 3X5. I had a 4X6, but I left it for swag in a geocache.

Kman is exactly right. In a survival situation, the only thing more important than water, is something to carry it in. If one is standing by an oasis in the middle of the desert, and you need to walk 100 miles that way, you need someting to carry the water.

I see the heliograph is an actual mirror - not trying to be funny, but I didn't expect that. I have an Aussie one somewhere and it's just a polished steel rectangle with a sighting hole in the middle, about the same size as a Silva compass. I've also seen the older US GI ones and they look different again - thicker and with some sort of cross-hatched reinforcement pattern.
