I wish the Army recover some of the first old meals:

my favorites :

Beef frankfurters
Beans with tomato sauce (great !
Ham slices
Beef slices in BBQ sauce

sweet favorites:

Chelly bar (fruit gums)
--> just at the start of the MREs inside the accessory packet and only for a short time
Brownie chocolate coverd
Mars bar --> also just for a little time in the accessory packet,I think later than chelly bar.
Nacho chips --> they were so tasty,
Marple nut cake

Do you mean MARBLE nut cake and jelly bar? Sounds like I would love those as well, I am with you, I would have liked to try those.

I ate them often with the first brown MREs after the army changed from C-ration to MREs.

I think a lot of meals and sweets are better with the current MREs but there are also some Meals and sweets from the first MREs which I miss !

No, I only ate one of the MRE meals that came in the dark brown bag and that was back in around 1990 or so. I only this past year got back into MREs so I missed out on all the goodies like the marble nut cake.

They need to bring back Pork with rice in BBQ sauce. That is my all time favorite.

How about Ham and Chicken Loaf while you're at it. The only one they should bring back is Frankfurters(beef or ?) Looks like they are trying to bring back some anyway. Omelets, and some kind of Sloppy joe which I have'nt tryed yet, but I figure it will not be unlike the Beef with Spiced sauce. Hope it won't run off the crackers so easily, and make a stain on my BDU pants leg now. LOL

Bring back the nut cakes, the ham and chicken loaf, beans and tomato sauce(best damned item ever made!!!!!!) pork with rice/bbq sauce, and where the hell did the peaches go?!!!!!! oh yeah, bring back the old stlye coffeee too, ya bastards.....

Bring back C-Ration Spaghetti w/ Meatballs and Fruitcocktail.

Bring back MRE Ham Slice, Fruit-freeze dried.

Replace all vegetarian...

"Marble" nut cake? It was maple nut cake.

I loved the Chicken ala King entree. (Never thought you'd hear anyone say that, did you?)

As I use regular Ragout Fin, add some mushrooms and peas, I get some "home made" Chicken a la King
