Welcome to the forums, Jason! It's great to have someone here who works directly with MREs.

What kind of work do you do in the warehouse?

One of the things I'd be interested in hearing about is how the new RFID tags on all the MREs cases are helping you guys do your job.

RFID Tags

Post by JASON1966 » Thu Dec 27, 2007 12:42 pm

Even though I work directly with the Mres, we dont deal with the RFID Tags, anything done like that is through our Vets here on Base. This is a Marine Base but I am a civilian worker. The vets here are really good, and they take much pride in the safety of the food handling, and usually they can extend the shelf life just another 6 Months for Human Consumption.

Heh heh...there's "Human Consumption" and then there's "mreheater72 consumption" (he's another member of the forums). Check out his taste test of his case of 1980's MCIs:

Welcome Jason!

Could you tell us something about the amount of MRE cases being handled (shipped/stored) each day/week?

We get MRE'S all at different times during the month, Depends on the production, Right now we have probably around 123,000 Thousand or more on Hand, and it is kept in a Humidity Controlled Warehouse, Trust me its great during the summer. Each Pallet wieght is at 1100 Pounds, with 48 Boxs to a pallet in each box there are 12 Mre's each with its own Heater inside.

It really depends on the customer on how many they need? to how much we ship out. There is alot I can tell you but some I have to watch it due to nation security. If you look on the Mre package it has a Number Ex) 7230 this was the born date as to 2007 Aug 18 so the Mres are actually good from 3 years to the date printed. But when truck loads do start comming in it is around 5 trucks a day 38 Pallets to a truck and all trucks are sealed.

Jason,

Welcome to the board. You have mentioned vast amounts of mres. I cannot help but wonder about another ration, though. Have you seen many of the new First Strike rations going through your facility? Many of us are interested in any information you would have on them.
