If you do, please think of poor old Smitty in the frozen north ;)

Interesting! I wasn't aware that these were actually in production yet (other than the prototypes a few years back). I have been keeping an eye on the Gov. contract for these and noticed it closed in mid April per https://govtribe.com/opportunity/federa ... 3s124r0010 and I believe there was a actual solicitation issued in August closing in June. From there there rations are supposed to be delivered to the Defense Logistics Agency depot at Tracy California with a required delivery date of approximately +150 days after contract award.

I would have guessed it would be at earliest mid FY25 before we see any actual ration in the hands of soldiers.

Very cool! I'm looking forward to seeing them and hearing people's thoughts on them.

I checked with the Mgr. at commissary at Ft. G-A, she said she checked on them, and was told not available until 2025, and unknown whether they could get any, anyway. They cannot get FSR's. So, I would not hold my breath, but she did say, in some instances, they can special order items for authorized customers.

Just ran across this:
https://www.dla.mil/Troop-Support/Subsi ... lt-Ration/

"The CCAR will be available in late 2024/early 2025"

The link to the meuns does not work for me

Looks more like a supplemental menu for first strike rations than what they were supposed to be

Kinda wondering what "high energy" beef stew tastes like. Sounds delicious and nutritious cold....
