RCW felt apart

Post by housil » Sun Aug 20, 2023 5:40 am

While walking the aisles of my rations room and checking them, my 1998 RCW pouch just felt apart when I grabbed it

The pouch became so porous, it just "crumbled" into pieces.

I have seen this before mainly from pouches exposed to the sun/UV rays for long periods of time.

I have an RCW that is currently suffering from the same developing problems. The polymer bonds that make up the package are degrading, and soon will crumble entirely. I am trying to decide if I am going to either sell it, eat it, take it apart and mount it in a shadow box, or what. Not sure at this point, but it needs to be taken care of soon.

I packed it into another transparent plastic bag for display.
