Bought a crate of 1945 coffee

Well fellas, I managed to snag myself an entire crate of that canned coffee that’s been going around lately. I am beyond excited, it’s coming from Italy so it’ll be a bit before it arrives. While having a complete, unopened crate would be amazing, I’m considering opening it and selling some of the cans to recoup the very costly investment. The crate itself and the majority of the cans will stay with me of course. What are your guy’s thoughts?

i think you should just suck up the cost because you'll regret it not being complete later on

That's awesome man! Amazed how many cases of this stuff there are though seems a tad fishy to me.
I do have the wooden crate and about 6 cans for myself. I have 3 more for friends but I'd say soak up the cost if you can. Sell something else or figure out another good investment as that's a unicorn right there.

I disagree with the last two posts only in one condition: you send me one of the cans… ;)

Haha awesome find! Very cool.

Super cool! Would love to buy a can - maybe sell a few to people who promise to either keep it intact or to treasure it and save the can…?

Thanks for the advice guys, I’m really leaning towards keeping it whole. I know buying a full crate just to open it seems silly at first, but I really wanted the crate itself and an empty crate wasn't an option. Obviously I wanted the cans inside as well, but you know what I mean lol. It will certainly be the gem of the collection unopened so I might have to keep it that way and find other parts of my collection to move to recoup funds. Either that or this will be my last ration purchase of the year

I’ll decide when it gets here I suppose. I would really love to share it though so others here can have a can for their collection, and they would be much more reasonably priced than the eBay ones

your property so your call but... faust coffee is everywhere right now

i can go buy a can in 3 or 4 places right now. with multiple sellers they're competing for buyers with price.

if a nice borden's coffee popped up right now on ebay do you think it'd go for $65? nope, because there's not cases of it out there for sale right now.

never sell in a saturated market. the longer you can hang on, the more money you'll get. surplus gluts don't last forever.

but they're all out there opening up these cases and selling off the cans... be the guy that doesn't do that if you can help it

You are completely right Tex, thanks for putting it like that. She’s gonna stay sealed for the foreseeable future. I have a couple of loose cans already, so I’ll let those go here to share what I can and save the crate.

After some trouble with customs and two weeks in a warehouse in Philadelphia, it came today! Crate looks great and I’m definitely going to leave it sealed, it will display very nicely. Pictured with a can I already had as an example to what’s inside.
