Mid War K Ration Dinner

Post by RationManDan » Wed Apr 12, 2023 1:45 pm

Just opened this mid war Dinner and was very happy with its condition. Interesting notes for this particular K it did not come with a wooden spoon or matches and the cheese can was loose in the box and did not come in the usual cardboard sleeve. Overall a beautiful display piece.

Hey Danny, how was that Fleetwood? A nice looking 1942 from the looks of it.

i'm curious as well

i have never smoked a K ration cig. i've had some very nice ones that were probably ok but i always found an excuse not to (like that they were next to rotting cheese for 80 years!)

Hey Steve and Tex. I only opened the Fleetwoods because the pack was virtually unblemished and not a nick of celo was missing or flaking off. Being how I think this Dinner was probably packed in a rush the cigarettes never got the chance to migrate next to the cheese and were one of the last components packed. I opened it from the left side so I could access the components pack first and it was the first thing to come out of the ration. As for the smoke itself it was pleasant. It had an overall nutty flavor and a very aromatic smell similar to roasted pine nuts with a very very minor hint of dry mold. With each drag you can feel smoke radiate through the cigarette causing your lips to go numb and upon exhale the smoke seemed to be overly heavy and would linger long after it was finished.
