Re: MRE Experiment
This Friday will be the one year mark for my experiment. This case sat outside for an entire year through rain, snow, freezing cold and blazing hot temperatures. I will open the case this weekend. I have taken the "control" MRE's out of the freezer and put them in the fridge to thaw. Hopefully one or two or more will have survived.

I’m excited!
All the best, Gents.
- I'm also making videos mainly for my own enjoyment, but hey, maybe you might want to check them out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4-9gp ... C1dSyPX0w/

Re: MRE Experiment
Lol I forgot about this experiment.
Carton looks whooped but still intact.
Look forward to contents opened.

Shit, it's a week past the planned open date. I hope Salty survived it.

Re: MRE Experiment
So I waited a whole year for this? What the hell man! I was so excited to open stinky rank MRE’s. I mean I was prepared for it. I had a mask and gloves ready. But absolutely NOTHING changed after sitting outside for an entire year. There were slight texture differences in the mains but that’s all.
We tried them right out of the retort pouch and then heated them up to see if there was a difference. They were definitely better heated but each tasted the same. The mains that sat outside had a slightly different texture, not bad or good just different.
We tried different components and everything was still good. Drink mixes were still In powder form, pound cakes were a bit dry but still edible. The cheese was perfect. Even the Skittles held up and were not just one big Skittles bar. We were very disappointed. Is it wrong I wanted them to be bad?
Got the rest set aside and will open one every now and again. I will try one of the Vegetarian meals next. Maybe one of those will be stinky
Beef Stew
Chili Mac
Chicken and Noodles

Re: MRE Experiment
Odd.. I would have figured the cheese at least would have started to change color!
What were the high temps like in your area and what was the duration of those temps?

Re: MRE Experiment
Interesting.
I’m guessing tightly packed in case protected them from being broiled for a couple seasons.
And the cold basically only helped.
I’m sure if they were spread out on a picnic table in their bags, things would be a bit worse inside. If you live in a place that gets roasting lol

Very interesting. So I guess all of the 300 ingredients in chicken stew really do serve a purpose.
