Close Combat Assault Ration

Post by Ahamby » Wed Apr 14, 2021 4:16 pm

Hello, I read an article last year about work on the development of what was being dubbed the US Close Combat Assault Ration. Does anyone know if they have made any progress on this one, or how hard it would be to get your hands on one of the prototypes???? I an intrigued about the microwave dried food bars.

"Wow CCRS... I would give my left nut for one of those"

"Why specifically the left one?"

Yeah I think these are probably still in development. and when they come in they will probably be super hard to get. if the project hasnt been cancelled yet. My guess is atleast 5 years before they are easier to get

I'd like to get my hands on one as well but my question is, will the CCAR replace the MRE?

"The Close Combat Assault Rations will not be replacing MREs, Instead, the new rations are a successor to the First Strike Ration, an attempt from 2009 to provide lightweight nutrition for soldiers fighting in the field." - Tom Yang, senior food technologist at Natick.

This was in the first google result dude...
