Post by Uncle Mike » Mon Mar 15, 2021 4:32 pm

Hi, I had an order of Cold Weather MRE's seized by the US Dept. of Agriculture. Has this happened to any one? what are my options, regards, Mike

Did it come from outside the US? Seems weird they grabbed their own products

As I’m sure you are aware, Importing foreign rations containing meat have been a big topic for the last year or two. I’m surprised they took a US product though, but at the same time they have confiscated Canadian IMP mains that had the USDA inspection stamps on them. I think the rationale was that the product contained meat and they get taken without the proper importing paperwork regardless of the origin of said product.

I would imagine they were destroyed. Did you receive the rations without the meat products, or nothing?

I can’t be much help, unfortunately

Hi Smitty, I have ordered many many MRE's without any problems. Except they did once open a Spanish ration, just the bag. I ordered 6 MRE's and received 1 open bag containing seafood chowder , #6. I also got an accessory pack, veg crackers, drink, spoon and an open, pound cake I was confused until I found this letter, regards, Mike

This is a shame and a disgrace. More overreach by bureaucrats.

As importing meat into the US is prohibited - lucky you

You can appeal against their actions if you think, it´s incorrect.

I understand importing rotten horse meat is illegal but when it come to military rations getting confascted then I think there needs to be some bills submited to congress.
A random hillbilly guy intrested in in military rations from across the world    :!: :?:

H, I'm not an importer nor a smuggler, so I rely on the vendor. If you want to see imported meat in the US go to any delicatessen. I have products from, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy , France and many others in my pantry. Basically this put an end to my MRE collecting as the vendor has told me they are not responsible. I sure am going to miss those French rations, sadly ,regards, Mike
