New MRE replacements

Hey everyone if ya'll remember a year or 2 back when the army anounced the productions of new rations I rember hearing that they might replace the MRE is that true or not and if it is what rations will replace it ?

Talking about the prototype Close Combat Assault Ration? I think the intent was the augment the MREs or at least that was my impression. Haven't heard much but again, I haven't really looked into it.

according to the article they may argument or even replace MREs sounds like its time buy up all military MREs incase they get replaced

I'd imagine it would be another ration at their disposal and only used when the "Close Combat Assault Ration" would be required for a certain operation. Right? I couldn't imagine them going to a bar based ration for large scale general use.

The wording on the article says "replace MREs" but then it says they are working on this "for small units". So I honestly can't tell what they intend on doing with this ration.
