Brown military pouch LRP/MCW's discontinued

Post by ItCameFromThailand » Thu Oct 08, 2020 3:42 pm

I just found the following info on the Epicenter website. It might be a good time to stock up on the old ones if you can find them.

OFD Foods, the makers of Mountain House Freeze Dried Food, has notified us that they are no longer producing the Military LRP/MCWs in brown military pouches:

"The military has changed their specs and we are no longer making the MCW's. The new Pro-Pak is now the new military spec."

The NEW Mountain House Pro-Paks are made to the exacting standards of the U.S. Armed Forces for Long-Range Cold Weather Patrols. The Military Spec Pro-Paks are now being produced for the military in place of the former brown package MCW/LRP rations.

There are currently six (6) Pro-Pak menus on the schedule for production in 2020.

Beef Stroganoff Pro-Pak
Breakfast Skillet Pro-Pak (Certified Gluten-Free)
Chili Mac Pro-Pak
Rice & Chicken Pro-Pak (Certified Gluten-Free)
Scrambled Eggs with Uncured Bacon Pro-Pak (Certified Gluten-Free)
Spaghetti with Meat Sauce Pro-Pak

The granola is safe, but they did discontinue the Raspberry Crumble.

oh thank goodness
most wanted: RCIR, MCI/B units, IMPs, anything old, and a packet or two of RAFCO soup. PM if you've got these, or anything else to sell that isn't too expensive.

They sell pro pak version at a local shop here. They cost a bit more, but are very compact (civi version)

The "pro" ones are both freeze dried and vacuum packed, yes?
