Post by ak70g2 » Thu Oct 25, 2007 3:52 pm

I saw once in an Action Gear (Brigate Quatermasters) catalog some chewing gum with coffeine they said was intended for FSR. Someone know more?

When they first started talking about the FSR, I read something about them using "Jolt Gum". You can find more info about that here:

I don't know if they're still using Jolt-brand gum or if they found another source. I did order a bunch of that gum to try out. Overall, the gum does the trick - a couple of pieces is supposed to be equal to a cup of coffee and it definitely wakes you up.

The only downside is after 5-10 minutes, the gum starts to taste like crap - I'm talking worse than regular chewing gum with no flavor. But if all you need is a quick caffeine injection, this will do it!

There are a couple of auctions on ebay claiming to sell FSR chewing gum. One of them is UK based though, so no idea where or how the seller got them.

Good catch, SpikNik. It looks like the gum is "Stay Alert Gum" and it's not related to the JoltGum folks:

It is "Stay Alert" gum. I've bought some at the clothing sales store on base. Yeah, I know. Odd place to sell it. I would have expected it at the PX, not clothing sales.
