1996 RCW came in today! Couple questions

Post by Rms2324 » Sat Aug 22, 2020 1:54 pm

Hey folks, received a 1996 RCW today! Couple questions:

Ebay seller said it was completely edible, reviews on the product said the same. Multiple people saying it’s good to eat.

If edible, my question is will it possibly increase in value? If not I’ll probably just bust it open and eat but if it’ll go up in price I’ll hold onto it.

I appreciate everyone’s help! Glad I could find one.

As to if they will increase in value, I cant help much there. Honestly, a decade ago - I never thought I would see the day when the RCW costs as much as they do now. I mean they always cost more per case than regular MRE's, but back in the day (during active production) IIRC they cost about 1.5x more than a regular case of MRE's.

My advice, eat it and enjoy it - it won't last forever! I have found the the two main items that go bad in there are the - nut and raisin mix and the brownie (as there are nuts in there). The rice and chicken wasn't a favorite though as there were sometimes little bits of bone that found there way into that meal.

My favorite oatmeals were the strawberries & cream and the brown sugar oatmeal.

Only for MRE enthusiast, but they are "worthless" until you find one guy that will pay a higher price .

They are freezedried and MH guarantees a shelf life of 30 years for their products.

Hey Housil, thanks for the advice! I’ve heard the 30 year mark mentioned before but after looking it up it looks like that’s the case.

Y’all have helped me decide to open it :) will post pics and review when I do
