The old Vietnam Era LRRP was the best

I grew up with MCIs and still have great memories to "Spaghetti w/ meatballs" etc...

C-Rations are my favorite and I continued to eat them up to 25 years old

My favorite ration has to be the Ration Individual Combat. It is so incredibly cool and contains a wide variety of items using some interesting packaging methods for the ration as a whole as well as the accessory components.

For eating and keeping around "just in case", I would have to say the modern MRE and the FSR. A lot of variety in the latter, but the versatility of the former can hardly be beaten.
I'd love to try a MCW, though I have yet to see any for sale that don't cost as much as two - three regular ones or a FSR though, when they pop up.
As for older ones, K-rations would be my vote. Though I do collect a lot of militaria from that time, and having one would be a nice addition to my collection.

I chose the MCW. They're filling, the items taste good, you can ration the items throughout the day and effectively make it a 24 hour ration, especially if you are sedentary. And since it's all dry goods, I can rely on them to last for many decades.
Until COVID-19 hit, you used to be able to regularly find cases on eBay priced from $120 - $150 shipped but I haven't seen any since. Occasionally, there's a seller that will list 6 of them for $85 which is a fairly average price.HeinrichFuchs wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 12:04 pmI'd love to try a MCW, though I have yet to see any for sale that don't cost as much as two - three regular ones or a FSR though, when they pop up.

For me it would have to be either RCWs or MCIs even though I have never tried any vintage rations except a vintage MRE, I'd still like to try a MCI or a RCW if I could get one for a reasonable price when I had the money to pay for it.

I've gone to every gun show and army surplus store in my area looking for MCWs and I still have not found 1 MCW.HeinrichFuchs wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 12:04 pm
