Price Gouging Due to COVID-19

Post by VPE819 » Tue Mar 03, 2020 8:52 pm

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to share something I've noticed lately with everyone.
People have taken to drastically increasing the price of MRE's, both civilian and military, to profit off of the coronavirus.

Just a few examples:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SOPAKCO-MRE-Em ... Swo4pYJMCv
Two Cases of Low sodium Sopakcos, $297.99, 11 sold.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/MREs-case-A-an ... SwlpleXaJD
A and B US case, $500

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Military-M ... SwVyheXosJ
One A Case of US mres, for the low price of $300 and shipping

But it's not just Ebay! Amazon is taking part too:

A single case of US for 200$.

Please don't buy anything from any of these people, this is despicable and should be condemned. I encourage you to look around on ebay and amazon at the prices, and post any particularly ridiculous ones below.
Thanks for reading this rant, and again, don't buy anything from these people

*Looks like the amazon link is broken, if you want to see it, PM me and i'll send it for your viewing pleasure

Dudeman, the brownbag eBay guy is legit, actually. They are in excellent shape (I’ve eaten several) and I don’t believe I have seen any price gouging on his part. Though, the disaster prep line is unfortunate from the standpoint that folks might not understand what they are getting into, and dive right in.

Edit: Just read his item description and aside from saying “everything is edible” I don’t see much misleading.

The rest of it though, yes, prices seem to be at a high for sure.
All the best, Gents.

Agree with Smitty.
Dudeman is offering vintage brown bags to collectors and enthusiests in amazing condition. He is not selling Coronavirus over inflated craziness.

I removed the portion talking about the brown bags, looks like I got my facts wrong. I wasn't protesting the price he set it at, rather the way they were presented as being totally fine, without any real disclaimer about their age.
Sorry for the confusion, and the rest of these are legitimately reprehensible.

Mmmmm well at least my name is not on your list.

I did up my prices a little but that was more to try and slow down the damn orders as I ended up burning though 100 cases and all my other stuff like the mains in 1 week.

At this point I have removed almost everything and just selling a little here and there as I could not keep up. I was selling 2021 cases for $169 and if someone wants to give me a hard time for that so be it.

But yes some of the prices are way to high and people are buying them.

I was in our local commissary last week. The MRE section was bare. Empty. Stripped. Not even a single Veggie Taco Pasta TOTM left.

Even before this recent madness, full MREs were edging up to over $10 each or $120+ a case.

Lol 760.00 pounds.
It’s funny cause my buddies always joke that I’m a prepper because of my collection and cache of MRE cases in my basement.
Now that you can’t buy toilet paper and pasta, I kindly just send them pics of my stash and say I’m good. Lol
