Does any one remember the old pork patty MRE from the early 80's
Has any one did a review on one lately those things were terrible.

The best part of that MRE was the dehydrated fruit block

MRE sure have come a long way since

I believe Steve1989, gshultz0 and Shawker 71 all did it. Frightening, yet I find it super intriguing.

I love that freeze dried fruit. They never should have taken it away. Just magical.

I think I'm one of the few (and crazy) who actually liked the dehydrated pork patty. I never tried to reconstitute it, I always ate it dry. It was strangely enjoyable that way.

I have dropped the FD pork patty, broken into like 6 hunks, in applesauce and let it soak maybe 3 minutes. It was pretty weird, but I really liked it anyway.

Widely despised, I had some previous experience with Oregon Freeze Dry products from hiking, so the FD pork patty didn't bother me. As I recall there was also a FD potato patty. I liked those too. The freeze dried fruits were pretty fancy for the time, and all the FD items were generally of high quality.

One thing to keep in mind on balance, years after other MRE components have turned into rancid moldy gravel, or golly knows what, those freeze dried pork patties will still be perfectly serviceable.

Not to necro-post, but this brings me back. My great grandpa, when I was younger, used to always eat his Pork chops with a lot of Applesauce poured on top. I guess it's a similar concept
