The history of jelly bar's and company that manufactured them

Hello everyone I was curious about the history of jelly bars and the company that manufactured them. I've searched around the internet and can't seem too find any info about what company made them and if that company still exists or if they still exist in any fashion I know of other jelly based candy around now and days but I am curious about the ones that where supplied to the military for mre's any help would be much appreciated.
