Has the military ever considered giving soldiers the astronaut ice cream

I saw a thing of astronaut ice cream and I wonder why haven’t I heard of the military using it in mres there shelf stable and a great morale booster

They used to actually include a freeze-dried ice cream sandwich in either the LRPs or MCWs a number of years ago.

Spike, it may amuse you to learn that even astronauts don't get "astronaut ice cream." It's actually a gimmick originally sold in various museum gift shops (and now elsewhere) but it hasn't been on the spacefood menu in a long time. (They tried it, and it just doesn't taste good in space. Foods taste a LOT different in orbit. They aren't positively sure why, but it's true.) My info was factual when I left NASA quite a few years ago. If anything has changed, I'm not aware of it.
