I will drop by the place and check on prices, coding and condition of those tray rats. I remember he has Chili with beans and White rice for sale. Like I mentioned before "not much variety". But he did have a fair price on each. Soon as I gather my information I will post it here.
Thanks for checking on that for us.

C-Rats, Lifesaver and Kman,

Okay here goes. I checked today on the Tray rations. The guy has seven altogether for 12.99 USD each, at least that is what is on the price tag of each. All are in perfect shape, one is missing a protective carboard sleeve but still is in super condition. Like I mentioned before he has chili w/beans and white rice. There is a code on the side of 2058 on some and 2078 on others. There is no rust, dents, or physical damage on any of them.

So it's a pretty good deal, though I am not sure what the actual tax might be on them, might be a bit. Also I'm not sure what the shipping would be or if the USPS would ship it or not. Will check though. If anybody is interested please PM me and we can set up a deal, or come to some agreement. Thanks

Thanks for checking, Treesuit. I'm going to pass on the deal for now but hopefully one of the other guys can take advantage of it.

Dang! I just ordered a case (4 trays) of rice from Long Life Foods. Still, they only came out to $15.00 each with the purchase of 4.

Treesuit ---- I'll pass on the Chili w/beans. But thank you very much for taking the time to look in to this for us (you `ol Ration Hunter you!). :)

Now, would someone please pass the soy sauce?

T-rat spaghetti "pizza bake"

Post by Nawt » Sun Feb 17, 2008 8:41 am

Wel guys, here's a tray review.

Yesterday I fixed a special meal for a few buddies from the service. So I figured, let's open up a tray.

Spaghetti Pizza Bake (4256) was on the menu.

Warmed it up in hot water. Took more than the required 40-45 min. as it said on the tray but that could also be due to the fact that I didn't have a quite large enough pan or tray to heat it in. The tray was not immersed in the water.

For taste and texture it was good. More like a fresh made spaghetti from yesterday that was heated up for the second time. You might know (or perhaps not) that taste. Some things taste a little better the second time.
the pepperoni taste was a little dominant. I expecte it to taste more like tomato sauce with a pepproni taste but it was kinda all pepperoni.

For serving size. It was sufficient for six guys. if you have something on the side too.

cheers Nawt.

Cool pics - looks pretty much like the MRE spaghetti. Did it taste just the same?

To answer your question I opened up a #20 (2177) and tasted it (The things we do just for Kman  ).

The spaghetti with meat sauce tastet more like tomato-meat sauce then the spaghetti pizza bake did. In the latter menu the pepperoni was kinda overwhelming, as I described. The #20 tasted somewhat like that spag.pizza bake since i tasted some pepperoni in it as well. But like i mentioned before. It had a better tomato-maet sauce taste. On the pictures you can also see that the sauce is more red in colour (tomato like).

Hopefully this answers your question.
b.t.w. the toasted peanut butter was missing  in the #20 MRE (Sopakco)

Cheers Nawt.

I think that the part of the picture on the right has too much red in it. Unless the plate is pink.
