I have eaten an MRE a day for lunch for about the last 3 months. This is excluding weekends and I do of course eat other food. Not dead yet.

Not exactly what I consider long term, but ok, it's not gonna kill anybody fast at least :)

I guess the best way to compare rations with something would be to treat it as any other commercial food products with high levels of sodium, calories and preservatives. Consume accordingly.
Those special low sodium rations are probably made for a reason :)

The energy drink electrolyte things combined with the candies are probably doing wonders for your blood sugar and gives you a nice insulin roller-coaster ride as well

Having said that, I can't wait to open my next ration though ;)
Still didn't try my Russian, Polish or French ones!

This forum needs a drooling Homer Simpson smiley.

Luckily I stay away from the drinks. I mail them to others.

HOW!?!?

I enjoy MREs but I would imagine that eating one a day will get old really fast.
Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!

After eating an entire case of menu B MRE's since late December, one thing I noticed is they just seem to lack fiber. I don't know how a person could stay "healthy", (nudge-nudge, wink-wink) just on that food.

Aside from that, what others have said about processed, preserved, overly salted food, I agree with.

Nowadays rations aren´t just emergency rations as they used to be in WW2. They are designed to feed soldiers in lack of "regular" food by mess halls and have a very balanced nutrition, this is why rations stripping is a problem as it may cause male nutrition.

That guy ate MREs for 21 days:

To me, he din´t drank enough.

Maybe we get the result of that some day:

On mil camps, I also eat MREs and other rations for a couple of days and I´m fine allways.
I might have to do a 30days 3 meals a day US MRE challenge!

LOL! I don't think US MRE's are nearly as bad as Micky D's food!
