Here's an odd one: I have 12 cases of the Sopako MREs (8287), and there is not one iota of peanut butter in any of these meals. Jell, yes; peanut butter, no. Not listed as a minor ingredient in anything in the meals. Well, the seller is sending 12 replacement cases for these "contaminated" ones. Guess I just doubled my MRE food storage. Seems that way. Anybody know where the peanut butter might be hiding?

That kind of sounds like Sopakco doesn't keep track of exact which components go into each batch of MREs. Maybe you got "lucky" and during your production run, they temporarily ran out of peanut butter and just substituted jelly instead.

After reading all the comments I'm still unsure about the MRE's. I got two cases from 2007 (A+B) (Sopakco packed).
Is anyone sure about that nothing of the contaminated peanut ingredients went into the military branch of the MRE's ?
Like Kman wrote that "Sopakco doesn't keep track of exact which components go into each batch of MREs". Can't find anything in the internet about that :(

Should I burn that stuff ?

Thanks,
Marc

I ate an Sopacko MRE from December 2007 including the peanut butter, I felt fine. Ok it was only 1 out of probably a 1000 produced that day so prehaps the odds were with me there.

Best advice I think is if your unsure just dont eat the Peanut butter, its the same with all rations you think somthings not right, don't take the chance. You still have the rest of the MRE to eat and not all with have peanut butter in anyway so if you come across one, Don't eat it.

Kann ich fragen? Wo in Deutschland bist du lokalisiert? (Can I ask? Where are you located in Germany? Please excuse any mistakes, most of the memeber here know I am trying to learn german and use it whenever I can  )
