MREDepot will ship to Canada and you can get a 21% discount on your order by using discount codes like "fluwikie" or "warrifles"

However, just so that you won't be surprised, the shipment will probably come by UPS Standard which also entails that a possibly substantial Customs brokerage fee be paid at your end. If you can broker it yourself or have your own customs broker that charges lower fees, that may help.

OhCanada wrote:We recently got Mountain House 2 person entrees and 1 person Pro-Paks in Canada through the Mountain Equipment Co-op chain or stores.

I've tried several and like them but at 200-310 calories they are not full meals. 2 person entrees cost between $5.25-$6.25 so after tax it's $2.75-$3.50 a serving of approx 8oz.

Some MREs use the same brands as you can buy in the stores so I am wondering if Mountain House or MRE entrees would be better if you were to make your own MREs.

I also like the fact that the MRE entree doesn't require 16oz of water like Mountain House.

Would also like to know cheapest MRE entree supplier close to eastern Canada due to shipping cost.
I feel your pain OhCanada, being from Nova Scotia as well(Cape Breton). I 've yet to find a way of getting MREs to Nova Scotia at a half decent price. I tried the Mountain House meals from MEC but my problem was that you need water for them so if your hiking you need to carry more water or use ground water which then has to be purified, you also need to heat the water so you need to carry a stove and mess tins. Much easier just to take an MRE and place it in the ration heater with a little water, wait 10 mins and chow down. The way I see it now is if I want the convinence of MREs I'm gonna have to pay for it. A few suggestions are find someone in the Forces that might be able liberate some IMPs for you,I've managed to get a few boxes but I don't think I'll be able to get anymore this way. The best way is Ebay but you have to be careful there, you really have to look for the deals because once again the shipping is gonna kill you,and make sure if your buying from the states that the shipper will label them as a gift. I recently got 2 boxes from Ebay, case of A and case of B produced in 04 for $160 s&h incl. but they didn't get marked as a gift and cost me an extra $40 when they got here. Hope this has been of some help to you,let me know if you find something else.
P.S. - There is also the link from MRE Info home page for Meal Kit Supply http://www.mealkitsupply.com, I've never bought from them but they might be worth looking into being a Canadian company.

Given the current weakness of the US Dollar, OhCanada may be able to gain a better financial advantage by ordering from a US resource, but the cost of shipping is going to be expensive no matter what happens, even if it is shipped to a US address and then reshipped by US Mail, since the USPS has eliminated all Parcel Post rates outside of the U.S. Don't know how close he is to the US border, but if he's close, his best bet may be to have it shipped to a mail drop address in Maine and then transport it himself back home.
