I swear they can smell through metal foil lined pouches. We had one rodent that ate my instant breakfast drinks which were in metal foil and plastic sealed pouches and the little bastard ate only the good chocolate ones and left me the vanillas!

Try hard to keep them at a constant (low) temperature and out of sunlight. The less handled the better as old pouches tend to start delaminating.
