Hi there, my apologies for being away so long.
I've tried U.S., Brit, Canadian and Australian rations so far, and my votes for best MRE would be:
entree: Love the Brit Beef Stew, even with the unfamiliar dumplings in it. Still, my favorite may be the U.S. MRE Beef Teriyaki, esp with some instant rice either from a Canadian pack or from the store.
fruit: U.S. Spiced Apples is really good when about 6 years old! Then it really does taste as good as apple pie just like they said!
bakery: My favorite is the Canadian pack simply marked "bread" - I was told that this is wonderful when heated in a pan of hot water before opening, as it both heats it and steams it. Second choice are the Brit "Biscuits Brown" crackers which appear to be also in the Dutch rations.
spread: Easy - the U.S. MRE peanut butter packs, twice the size of the little Canadian ones.
drink: Hard to decide between my U.S. Instant lemon tea, or the Brit lemon powder a Brit soldier told me was called "screech".
dessert: The Brit "Chocolate pudding in chocolate sauce" is not what I expected, as their "pudding" is a very dense steamed cake. The "sauce" is the same as our "pudding"...very confusing, but really good warmed up even.
snack: Easily my favorite is the Australian ratpack "Muesli Slice" bar, really good and I like them even better than the old U.S. RCW granola bars! Haven't tried the "Aussie Bites" from Costco yet, but they look like a similar recipe aside from added sunflower seeds which I don't care for.
candy: I like chocolate, so naturally I would say the "Yorkies" that come in the Brit packs late 2003 or later. The only place I can find these, other than online, is from a place called "Cost Plus World Market" which is on the west coast at least. Now I can only imagine what would become of a milk chocolate bar in 120 degree heat of Iraq, so here's my favorite hi-temp alternative - the Australian "Banana Berry" candy rolls from their ratpacks - sort of like giant sweet-tarts, and they won't melt! This is the kind of candy we gathered, along with batteries and other goodies, to send to the troops in Iraq.
Anyway, those are my favorites,

My favourite MRE was and is the No. 5 “Beef Stew” 1981-1985 edition. The yummy “Beef Stew”, the “Cherry Nut Cake”, which is unmatched
, the freeze dried “Strawberries”, the very fine “Crackers” with “Peanut Butter” and last but not least the “Cocoa Beverage Powder”. I hope that they decide a resurgence of the “Nut Cakes” in near future
, but I’m not very hopeful
.
For the present MRE I can’t cast a vote, because I still haven’t eaten all menus.

Pretty sure this wont come as a surprise, but my favorite by far is the chili mac, with the cheese spread added. (I bet it's even better with the jalapeño cheese spread.. mmm..)
The worst that I've personally had was the Alfredo noodles.. bleh. I think it was part looking at it though, and I don't really like the sauce from a jar, and this wasn't even as good as that IMHO (CCC is a close second). Oh, and I don't like the Canadian IMP bread unless its super fresh, it just has a terrible chemical taste to it. The MRE bread isn't a whole ton better, but my MREs are mostly newer than my IMPs.
