Thank God for MREs!!!

Post by DIRTYDAVE » Fri Jun 03, 2005 12:15 am

Well, when times are tough like they are for me when I have to pay my over $3,000 in bills a month, there sometimes just is not enough money left to buy yourself a decent sub sandwich for lunch or a decent Lean Cuisine dinner. Well, yesterday was one of those days. I was so depressed driving home, my head hurt so damn bad and my stomach was growling. I did not look forward to eating another can of tuna fish or another bowl of shredded wheat and the dried cat food did not sound appetizing either. BUT, all of a sudded it dawned on me...MREs! I have so many different entrees, sides, etc to choose from, that I knew darn well that I was going to eat well tonight and it was not going to cost me a penny other than what I had paid out already for the MREs in my possession. Well, let me tell you what I had.

I mixed up some grape beverage powder...I love that stuff

Peanutt butter and crackers for the appetizer....tasted especially good last night.

Pasta w/ vegetables for the side and chicken tetrazzini for the main course...tasted kind of like tuna fish to me...so much for not having tuna fish...LOL.

And for dessert I had a fig bar.

So as you can probably tell, I had a mish mosh of all kinds of different MREs for a real "motley crue" kind of dinner. And now I think back on last nights meal and I just would like to say....

THANK GOD FOR MREs!.....

I always did think MREs tasted extra-good when you were really hungry!

Living the high dollar lifestyle aren't ya? I only take home about $1,600 every month. Anyone with $3,000 just in bills every month must be doing good and living with a lot of luxury items. Then again, I lived in Naples, FL for 20 years and was rather expensive. It costs me about half as much to live in the Tulsa, OK area as it does to live in south Florida.

Hi Dirtydave,

You are just a lucky guy!! At least you are able to PAY the 3000 dollar+ bills... ;)

A dinner of mixed of MRE items is my favorite. I reject the items I do not like and can even ad commercial items to it. Last Friday I had a choise to make: Struggle my way through a 1-hour Traffic Jam, or rest at a parking lot and eat my Mixed-MRE-Dinner. You know what I choose!

Hey, did I read somewhere that Chicken-a-la-King was NOT for human consumption? Assuming this meal was BAD???
Come on! C-A-L-K was my all time favorite!! I just wonder how I manage without this delicious meal. really, no kidding, I loved it.

Greez!

Well, I pay $876 a month in child support for one child, $760 for a two bedroom apartment, yes in Florida, and all the other utilities and necessities that go along with it, so actually it probably works out to more than that. I do make a good living but the child support, Uncle Sam and utilities, gas ( traveling salesman, non reimbursible) etc really takes that good living and puts a crink in it. $876 a month in child support? Well, if you live in Florida and are divorced there is a standard calculation they use to plug all the numbers into and that is what you have to pay no questions, no explanations given.

THANK GOD AGAIN FOR MREs!!!

A pic of my daughter by the way...enjoying her favorite MRE...Spaghetti...

...and her favorite way to take her beverage base power...no water! LOL!
kids, don't they just make you laugh?

Yes, she tends to get a lot of boys...I may be biased but I think she is going to be a real heartbreaker when she gets older.

Her name is Lexi.
