First Strike Rations page up!

Post by kman » Wed Oct 10, 2007 1:19 am

Hey guys - I just put up the new First Strike Ration (FSR) page:

http://www.mreinfo.com/us/fsr/fsr.html

Also be sure to check out the associated Pictures and Sandwich Taste Test pages (you can find the links in the menus on the left side of the screen).

Thanks! That looks good, though the sandwich taste test sounds a little disconcerting. Hope you can add more as more info becomes available.

If I can just find a source for all the parts and pieces, I'll put up more info as fast as I can eat them!

Great page Kman!

My only complaint is.....well, you know.... some of the pictures just don't "enlarge" well at all. For me at least, (half way down) on the opening page the enlargement of the FSR's contents just doesn't help. About the only items I can make out are the crackers, tortillas, Zapplsauce, & tuna. About the only item I'm not squinting on ( :x ) is the spoon! (that is a spoon, isn't it?) :?

One thing I noticed concerning the FSR contents is the lack of a FRH in the package. (or is there one in there that I just can't see?) :x !! I guess our GIs are relegated to cold sandwiches unless they've saved a heater from an earlier MRE.

Also, from the pics that do in fact enlarge nicely, that pocket sandwich bread looks really tastey!

I feel your pain, C-rats. Unfortunately, I didn't have many source pictures to work from so the "large" versions of the pictures aren't really too large.

But the pictures of the FSR sandwich are ones I took myself - that's why I have the really big versions available.

I searched the Internet high and low for about two straight days looking for better sources of pictures but as far as I can tell, they just aren't there.

As soon as I can get my hands on a real First Strike Ration, I'll take all the huge-sized photos you want.

As for the FRH, they left that out on purpose. I guess the point of the FSR is to strip it down to just the bare necessities and they determined that "hot" pockets weren't absolutely necessary.

I'm still trying to get a couple. I know an E-7 Infantry platoon sergeant that just got back from a tour in sandland, back to Riley. He can't find any. Never saw any over there. Told me he would grab some asap, but has'nt come across any yet.
