WWII Logan Bar - Is it real or fake?
Hello!
I just came across this logan bar and Im really curious if its real or fake. I have heard of 2 ounces logan bars but never saw anything like this and I cant find any photo of bars like this. I also never saw logan bar with a name "Logan emergency bar" in the front - all 2 ounces d-bars have typical "U.S. ARMY FIELD RATION D" name.
Here I found a lot of random 2 ounces d-bars but none of them looks like this one in attachment: http://www.kration.info/d-bar-sweet-chocolateand.html
Any information or any contact to an expert would greatly help me, thanks in advance!

I saw on of these for sale by 1944Supply.com for like 150 Euro, they claimed it was recently found in Normandy..

In my opinion I do not think either is original, as I would expect much more wear to the wrapper and ink due to age! I mean it looks like the ink was printed yesterday.

Did Logan Bars even come in a 2 oz. Size?
I've only ever heard of a 4 oz. portion.

Yes, 2 ounces and even 1 ounces bars were a real thing.

I have found a lot of new informations.
http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ ... d-rations/
A 2014 post
"Logan, the bar that started it all" with attached photo
And I also get another photo from the 1944supply seller of another Logan Emergency Bar (attached pic) [Really nice seller, send me a lot more informations]
The more I look the more information I find about these Logan Bars with printed "Logan Emergency Bar" on the top - They are really unique and unknown compared to the og "U.S. FIELD ARMY RATION D" ones. I sent mail to National Archives and Hershey archives and to my WWII Ration friend, if I get any more info I will send it back - It looks really promising.
btw - The printing looks really nice and "fresh" on the photo but in the reality you can see how old the paper and inside is so do the "ink" and letters.

Not calling anyone a liar, but it is very common in militaria collecting circles to claim that something was recently "found in a barn in Normandy" to sex up a sales post for deep-pocketed American buyers.

Agreed! This one would 100% need a hands on. No way to tell from pics.Richard w. wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 8:16 pmNot calling anyone a liar, but it is very common in militaria collecting circles to claim that something was recently "found in a barn in Normandy" to sex up a sales post for deep-pocketed American buyers.

The D rations used by the Army would have been called just that. They would not have been called Logan Bars. My guess - a commercial product. Hard to think many were sold. Colonel Logan formulated the chocolate so it wasn't real sweet and eaten as a candy bar. He wanted the bar to taste "just better than a boiled potato".
