Strange places where you found MREs

Post by cap174 » Thu Jul 25, 2019 6:15 pm

I'm just starting this thread because I'll be going to a flea market in Bosnia in a few days, maybe I'll find some MREs or HDRs from the war...

So I was thinking - what strange places have you guys found MREs in? My uncle who was a veteran once found one behind his bookshelf and gave it to me - that was cool :D
On an impossible mission to get every ration ever :D

Looking for Vintage, rare and just plain strange items

When I was a teenager back in the 80's, I was picking up dog poop with a friend in his back yard. I found a C-ration can of scrambled eggs and ham buried in the ground. I ate it. Does that count?

Well, game over gents. Mike wins.

Oddest place I've found it is on a local buy and sell. Yeah, not very exciting. I mean even our Surplus stores don't have rations.
All the best, Gents.

When you say, "I ate it", I really hope you were referring to the buried can of scrambled eggs and not the other thing.

LOL, The inner lining of the can was stuck to the edge of the eggs but I ate the rest of it. I always did love C-Rations, including the scrambled eggs.
