Help With K Ration Authentication

Post by amram » Fri Apr 05, 2019 1:18 pm

Hello All,

I recently acquired 3 K ration breakfast units. Upon removing the inner box I noticed some variation among them. Please have a look and let me know if any of these could be repros. (edit) I have also noticed dif manufacturer's for all three printed on exterior box (Picture Below).
They appear to be genuine to my untrained eye. Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks!

These look legitimate to me, just based on watching Steve1989's videos along with seeing other pictures on the internet. I can't speak based on real life experience. What does it smell like? Does it have an old library book type of smell? If so, I'd say there's an even better chance they're legitimate.

All your manufacturers are correct, all 3 produced K rations...along with about 10 others like Heinz (Ketchup), Cracker Jack, BeechNut (baby food/cereal), Campbell soup, Wrigley Gum and even Hiram Walker (now produces low end alcoholic cordials). It was all hands on deck to help the war effort.
They look pretty legit based on the aging of the cardboard. I would be more worried if they were in better condition. One of the experts will give you a better response. These were probably expensive to get a hold of, nice find. These are collector item for you? are do you plan to eat one...be careful :D

Thanks for the feedback Viper! after a bit of research, I am also leaning toward legit. I don't intend on consuming any of them, just collecting for the moment, but I won't rule it out in the long term lol. I will probably trade one or two off eventually. I am still in need of a supper unit and some of the SA/ST lines, to better flesh out the collection.
