Found the 2 old MCIs I know I had somewhere

Post by Teddydogno1 » Sat Sep 01, 2018 10:32 pm

Was digging in the garage today to try to find the old brown-bag MREs and components I think I have somewhere. Didn't find them, but did find the 2 MCI partials. I thought they were together, but I guess not. I might have tossed the MREs the last time I came across them since they certainly aren't good any more and I might have thought (pre discovery of MRE Info) they were of no interest.

Anyway... These were given to me by my Uncle and were from his time either in the Coast Guard or the Army National Guard. He gave them to me probably in the mid-80s. I remember him opening a few cans and sharing a few of his "favorites" around then. Both of these are in poor condition and are missing parts. Neither have their accessory packets and only 1 even has its "B-2 Unit".

You can see the cans all have at least a little rust and the main can is VERY rusty and holed. It is also very light, clearly missing most of the contents.

It is hard to see in the picture, but the main can appears to have a code on top of "8266" on top. 1978 then?

This time I chose to leave the bottom cans in the box for the pictures. After handling the first one, I didn't want to do it again. This main is actually in better shape, though still holed. You can actually see the code here of "5107" on the main and "2288" on the Nut Roll. I would think the main could be 1975, but the Nut Roll 1972? Seems unlikely they would be that far apart. IF they even started out together.

Anyway...clearly there will be NO TASTING. But any comments or info on these is welcomed.

Shame about the mains, especially the spaghetti. Loved that one the most.

I'd try eating the nut rolls. They look safe.
