MCW’s, what’s your favorite menu??
Hi, new member here. As you can tell by my user name, I enjoy hiking and backpacking. My “go to” trail meals have been mountain house and ramen. I’ve decided to try mre’s. The standard mre’s are quite heavy so I recently discovered the Meal Cold Weather rations. I ordered one to try out and really enjoyed it. Being freeze-dried it was really light in weight. The menu was the seafood chowder. So I broke down and ordered a case. They are late 2016 menus. So my question is, which menu is your favorite of the 12?

Out of every MCW I've had so far I have to say that the good old-fashioned Beef Stew is still my favourite. But with that said I don't know what the exact components would be in that ration aside from the main for that production year. I know my Beef Stew MCW came with the legendary cookie, chocolate covered!

I’ve watched a few videos of the beef stew, and it’s one I’m excited to try!

My favorite menu from MCWs would be beef stroganoff with noodles.

Any of the oriental ones are my favorites. Also, the
Spaghetti is amazing not only because it tastes good but it comes with M&Ms.

That's a good one.
So is the First Strike apple-cinnamon bar that comes with it.

Beef stroganoff is really good, I also like quite a lot the seafood chowder, it's quite similar to a spanish dish I ate as a kid so it has a home feeling for me
I have Spanish rations permanently, feel free to ask

The French toast side, filled with a thick syrup type filling, was dynamite.
Came in a Chicken & Rice mcw.

Whoa. Finally tried a seafood chowder last night for first time. Added 13 ounces of water instead of recommended 16. I have to say that is now one of my favorite meals ever. It was full of clams. I have to admit I was skeptical of seafood turned into basically a bag of cereal, but I loved it and raved about it to some friends while I was eating it. I give it two thumbs up.carlosflar wrote: ↑Sun Feb 17, 2019 1:47 pmBeef stroganoff is really good, I also like quite a lot the seafood chowder, it's quite similar to a spanish dish I ate as a kid so it has a home feeling for me

I just tried a 2018 Menu #2 Spicy Oriental Chicken with Rice. Absolutely amazing. I made it with the 12-13 ounces as recommended - totally the right call guys. Can confirm.
1 - 580 calories of basically delicious chinese food with the Oriental Chicken with Rice entree. Large portion. Not spicy at all but plenty of savory soy flavor.
2 - First Strike Bar - Apple Cinnamon. I really dig those things.
3 - Dried Sliced Cranberries. Quite possibly my favorite side item. Bursting with flavor.
4 - Nut Raison Mix with Chocolate Disks! Not too shabby. Goes well with the cranberries.
5 - Fruit Punch
6 - Coffee
7 - Gum
Those mountain house mains are fantastic. Definitely quality. I think I can safely say I enjoyed this one more than any of the MRE mains I've had to date. Also... so much food and guys are suppose to get 3 of these a day!
