2014 MRE Menu 11 Vegetable Crumbles With Pasta in Taco Style Sauce

Well, I've been lurking here for a little while, and thought I'd finally post for the first time.

Today I opened my 2014 MRE Menu 11 (Vegetable Crumbles With Pasta in Taco Style Sauce).

The cookie was still in tact, and still had a soft bite to it. Great oat flavor.
I'm always happy to find peanut butter in these MREs, since they make for the best beanut butter and crackers I've ever had. Never fails.
The Tootsie rolls were as soft as the day they were made.
I wasn't a huge fan of the cappuccino. I prefer my coffee black, and this was a bit too sweet for me, but the vanilla flavor was pretty genuine.
The lemonade from the accessory pack was fantastic, and had actual lemon oil in the list of ingredients. It's been very hot outside, so this hit the spot.

Unfortunately these are the only pictures I took, though the biggest surprise and coolest thing I took away from this experience was the vegetable crumbles in the taco pasta. I had to look over the package several times while eating it, because I could have SWORN this stuff was stewed beef. I am not a vegetarian, but you could have fooled me with this recipe. It was absolutely delicious. Great taco flavor. The beans were perfectly cooked, not chalky at all, and the pasta wasn't mushy. The Louisiana hot sauce added a kick that's still burning my throat, but the overall flavor was so good I didn't find it necessary to add (I love hot sauce!)

I promise my future reviews will have more pictures, maybe even some videos :D

Also, I'm not sure if this post should be made here, or MRE reviews? I will be sure to post in the right place from now on.

Veggie Taco Pasta is one of - possibly THE - least desired meal. When I shop for a new TOTM at my commissary, I have to paw through 30 or 40 VTP ones to find anything else. IF there is anything else.

Beats me why. The meal is delicious, just as you describe it. It's closer to Chili Mac than anything else. "Meaty" chunks, pasta, tangy sauce. Fabulous.

I thought the accessory pack was a bit wimpy. It had no matches or coffee, but I feel like if they threw in a couple coffees and another powdered drink mix in place of the vanilla cappuccino, this meal would have been an A+ in my small book.

I'm totally grabbing a couple more of these to save for a rainy day. :D

People have a mental "thing" against the idea of it being vegetarian but with the hot sauce added , because I like hot sauce I find it really good for what it is
